Penguin Car Trouble! Wordless Wednesday

Today I am grateful that people tell better jokes than chimps.

"Old People" ya gotta love them!

Today I'm grateful for our older generation. As I have gotten older I am glad god gave me two ears and one mouth. To listen twice as much as I talk. Just sit back and listen to a wonderful experience.

An elderly gentleman...Had serious hearing problems for a number of years. He went to the doctor and the doctor was able to have him fitted for a set of hearing aids that allowed the gentleman to hear 100%The elderly gentleman went back in a month to the doctor and the doctor said, 'Your hearing is perfect. Your family must be really pleased that you can hear again.'The gentleman replied, 'Oh, I haven't told my family yet.I just sit around and listen to the conversations. I've changed my will three times!'Two elderly gentlemen from a retirement center were sitting on a bench under a tree when one turns to the other and says: 'Slim, I'm 83 years old now and I'm just full of aches and pains. I know you're about my age. How do you feel?'Slim says, 'I feel just like a newborn baby.''Really!? Like a newborn baby!?''Yep. No hair, no teeth, and I think I just wet my pants.

'An elderly couple had dinner at another couple's house, and after eating, the wives left the table and went into the kitchen. The two gentlemen were talking, and one said, 'Last night we went out to a new restaurant and it was really great. I would recommend it very highly.'The other man said, 'What is the name of the restaurant?'The first man thought and thought and finally said, 'What is the name of that flower you give to someone you love? You know... The one that's red and has thorns.''Do you mean a rose?''Yes, that's the one,' replied the man. He then turned towards the kitchen and yelled, 'Rose, what's the name of that restaurant we went to last night?'

Hospital regulations require a wheel chair for patients being discharged. However, while working as a student nurse, I found one elderly gentleman already dressed and sitting on the bed with a suitcase at his feet, who insisted he didn't need my help to leave the hospital. After a=2 0chat about rules being rules, he reluctantly let me wheel him to the elevator. On the way down I asked him if his wife was meeting him.'I don't know,' he said. 'She's still upstairs in the bathroom changing out of her hospital gown.'Couple in their nineties are both having problems remembering things. During a checkup, the doctor tells them that they're physically okay, but they might want to start writing things down to help them remember Later that night, while watching TV, the old man gets up from his chair. 'Want anything while I'm in the kitchen?' he asks.'Will you get me a bowl of ice cream?''Sure.''Don't you think you should write it down so you can remember it?' she asks.'No, I can remember it.''Well, I'd like some strawberries on top, too. Maybe you should write it down, so as not to forget it?'He says, 'I can remember that. You want a bowl of ice cream with strawberries.''I'd also like whipped cream. I'm certain you'll forget that, write it down?' she asks.Irritated, he says, 'I don't need to write it down, I can remember it! Ice cream with strawberries and whipped cream - I got it, for goodness sake!'Then he toddles into the kitchen. After about 20 minutes,The old man returns from the kitchen and hands his wife a plate of bacon and eggs. She stares at the plate for a moment.'Where's my toast ?'

A senior citizen said to his eighty-year old buddy:'So I hear you're getting married? ''Yep!''Do I know her?''Nope!''This woman, is she good looking?''Not really.''Is she a good cook?''Naw, she can't cook too well.''Does she have lots of money?''Nope! Poor as a church mouse.''Well, then, is she good in bed?''I don't know.''Why in the world do you want to marry her then?''Because she can still drive!'

Three old guys are out walking.First one says, 'Windy, isn't it?'Second one says, 'No, it's Thursday!'Third one says, 'So am I. Let's go get a beer.'

A man was telling his neighbor, 'I just bought a new hearing aid. It cost me four thousand dollars, but it's state of the art. It's perfect.''Really,' answered the neighbor . 'What kind is it?''Twelve thirty.'

Morris, an 82 year-old man, went to the doctor to get a physical.A few days later, the doctor saw Morris walking down the street with a gorgeous young woman on his arm.A couple of days later, the doctor spoke to Morris and said, 'You're really doing great, aren't you?'Morris replied, 'Just doing what you said, Doc: 'Get a hot mamma and be cheerful.''The doctor said, 'I didn't say that. I said, 'You've got a heart murmur; be careful.'

A little old man shuffled slowly into an ice cream parlor and pulled himself slowly, painfully, up onto a stool.. After catching his breath, he ordered a banana split. The waitress asked kindly, 'Crushed nuts?''No,' he replied, 'Arthritis.

Calender Winners ARE!!!

Today I am grateful for these fine words...

To get something you never had, you have to do something you never did. When God takes something from your grasp, He's not punishing you, but merely opening your hands to receive something better. Concentrate on this sentence... 'The will of God will never take you where the Grace of God will not protect you.' Something good will happen to you today; something that you have been waiting to hear.

Court today:

Court went as well as can be expected. The silver lining is that I get a court appointed attorney. I guess not making any money, can be a blessing at this point in our lives. Pre-trial is set for Jan. 14th 9:00am. I'm going to make them drop the case and make this old man go away or take it to a jury trial. The thing about a jury trial is no one my age is going to listen to this old man. While will just wait and see what Jan. 14 brings.

Calender Winners are:

Tayte

Samantha
Nash

Kayla
Johnny Ella Grace

Eilonwy

Eian
Chelsea

Hey! Dad don't forget about ME!
Nash & Ella Grace will be the first project started. Completion of these 2 should be Late January.

What's next ??????

I'm sitting here tonight trying to figure out when our family will get to see the light at the end of the tunnel. For the past month Pam and I have been posting each day something we are thankful or grateful for. We started doing this to help us look for something positive each day. Some days are easy, and other are almost impossible. A funny video clip or pictures posted are an attempt at creating smiles or some laughter. Finding a way to laugh everyday might sound easy for most.

Tomorrow I have to go to court to fight a noise ordnance violation. Most might think I might have had a radio playing to loud or something like that, right? While you would be wrong. I got a ticket for my dogs barking. An old man that has nothing better to do, but call the police on everyone in the neighborhood. It all started when we moved back into our house. The calls first came in saying the yard was not up to city code (Fire hazard for the weeds that had grown). The funny thing about it was that we had a clean up party 3 days after we moved in. The police still got 15 call (From the same guy) saying that there was still a hazard. I then had my old 82 chev parked on the side of my house (on the property). I then got calls for an abandon vehicle on my property. While I gave the truck away. Then the complaints went on to the rabbits. The calls were that rabbits aren't city pets. While animal control had to tell this guy that there is not violation for having rabbits. Then this guy turned his attention to my dogs. The first complaint was that my dogs were aggressive. When animal control came out again I asked how they were aggressive? He said that they bark at people walking by my yard. I then asked isn't that what dog should do? Let you know if someone or something is in or near your yard? Animal control then said your right. Just to make sure I didn't offend anyone I started bringing the dogs in every night about 9pm. I then go calls saying that they were excessively barking during the day. While the interesting part of the story is Pam is home all day with Rhett. When Animal control came over and finally gave us a ticket, he said that he had gotten a call that morning and the dogs were barking. He then said he had spent about an hour listening for the dogs, and did not hear them but needed to write the ticket because of all the complaints. The reason animal control didn't hear the dogs is because Pam had them in the house from the night before and had only let them out for 5 mins to potty. Animal control seen the dogs in the house and still wrote the ticket.

I'm just can't believe the warm welcome we got and continue to receive. Sorry I got long winded there.

Today I am grateful for good neighbors. Most people don't have a really bad one like us.

I'll post the calender winners tomorrow. Check out this clip.

Only one day left to vote! Who's going to be in the calender click here!

Today I am grateful for spell checker. I'm not a spelling bee winner.

Three Little Pigs!

Only a few days left to vote! Who's going to be in the calender click here!

Today I am grateful for Christmas tree toppers. The only Christmas decoration I've got to put up each year.

Pam and the kids put up the Christmas tree today. They also put up other Christmas decorations. The best thing is I get to watch my house turn into a light show. I'm not talking about outside. The day after Thanksgiving is our annual put up the tree day. I don't know how many times Pam has tried to put up the Christmas tree before Thanksgiving. I'm talking every year. I tell her that if they started putting up Christmas stuff in the stores before Halloween, she would want the tree up then. Maybe we should just leave it up all year?

Reptile play time...

Don't forget to vote for your favorite kids. Who's going to be in the calender click here!

Today we got to play with Nub. Nub is another red tailed boa (7 feet long and about 10 inch around). He came from a teacher that Dakota had last year. I'm not sure why I took that snake other than it will not cost us anything to keep it. The snake was kept in the class room so it's been around kids a lot. Rhett just loves this big guy. Every time the snake would move away from him, he would pull it back. The pictures Pam took don't even capture how much fun we were all having watching Rhett play with Nub. Rhett likes the soft smooth skin.
I've had a lot of interest in having me do some commission Art. I'll take on a few project, but you will have to be flexible on the completion time. I draw from references to insure I capture a likeness. I can draw most anything (people, animals, landscapes, etc.)
Cost: $20 for materials. TIME: $10 (to $15 per hr.) Depends on complexity of the project.
Too give you an idea of the time needed, I am scheduling myself 30 hrs per calender piece ($300 to $450). You can email me at rhettspets@hotmail.com if your interested. I will take on two or three project with a completion date of Feb. 1st. so they can be shipped and received by Valentines Day. I would have to start your project by mid. Dec. So don't wait until Dec. 15th to ask, or get a set price.

Anyone need a new necklace or hat?

I know not everyone likes reptiles as much as our family, but they are way fun. I've got 20 Bearded dragons I'm going to be selling between now and Christmas does anyone want one? I'll post pic's tomorrow. I'm selling them for $30 or two for $50. They will also be posted on ksl.com in there classified section.
Today I am grateful for to many projects. I don't know if I could handle our lives slowing down even when I wish it would. I think some peoples plates are always over flowing.

Komodo Dragon

Don't forget to vote for your favorite kids. Who's going to be in the calender click here!

Drawing this Komodo Dragon was really hard. I thought drawing the buffalo and Elliot was a challenge, but they were nothing compared to this Komodo Dragon. The pictures of the finished dragon were taken with my cell phone so the quality is poor, but I think you'll get the point. I am also posting the reference I used. This drawing was done with pastels (chock). I don't know if I'll do anything in color again. Like I said it was really really hard. I'm glad it is done.

Full Picture 20x30 Waiting to be scanned.

Today I am grateful for natural talent. We all have natural talents, some we don't even know are there until something amazing happens. I look forward to Drawing are special little angles soon.

Blonde Stunt Car Driver & Snake Prank

Today I think Pam was wanting to becoming a stunt car driver. She backed her mothers car into a PARKED truck, and yes I said PARKED truck. I'm not sure how she did it, but maybe Rhett or Chloee said "hey mom look over there" and she did and kept backing up. What a blonde. Pam also was trying to flood our house as she just came down to talk to me and left her bath water running. Like I said "What a blonde". Ya got to just love her to death. I wounder if she even remembers her name today.

Speaking of cars. If any of you would like Pam and I come visit. All you have to do is buy a car, truck, or SUV from me. After you buy it we can then deliver it to your door. What do you think, any takers?

I think I have just the video clips to go along with today's events.

I'm waiting for this to happen to Pam and her little Rat Dog. Check out this clip.

Don't forget to vote for your favorite kids. Who's going to be in the calender click here!

Pam's greatest fear! While Chloee's snake keeps getting out. Don't ask me how it just is. Today is was in the closet laying on a shelf, when the boys found it. When I got home it was on top of the open door (Can snakes fly?). So I got it down and we were all playing with it. I then put it into another container in the kitchen. That is where it was when Pam went to take her bath. Between the time she went up stairs and came back down I put the snake away, but left the container on the counter. She came in and asked me if I had put the snake away. I couldn't resit. I told her with a straight face no, why? So I acted like I was looking for it. I said I found it under the fridge. When she came to look I kept saying its right there do you see it? When she got down to look under the fridge I grabbed her and she screamed. I then got hit about a dozen times. That was the highlight of my day. The beating was well worth the prank!!!

Today I am grateful for time while spent! No matter what you are doing, if you don't give it 100% effort your time is worthless. One thing about time you never get it back.

Anonymous Commenter Take #1

I wouldn't say this commenter is "horrible" at all. I just think they might be uneducated or mis-informed.

"I don't want to be one of those "horrible" anonymous commenter's, BUT when you get a pet, it should be for life. Is the male neutered? Maybe that's why he's getting out of the yard, it's sad he had a family and now will be thrown away and possibly euthanized, although you didn't really say what you were doing with him. Why would you want to make money of your pets? They should be companions, not money making objects. And to get rid of a dog just to get another? hummmm doesn't make sense. I love your blog I truly do, but I think this is wrong."

I guess I've just got to dive into this comment. First off, I'm reading between the lines in this comment saying they would rather send my family $500 a month so that I don't raise anymore animals (is that what I understand)? We all have different opinions, that doesn't make any one person right or wrong. Like I said before I've raised dogs all my life. Most of them being hounds, or bird dogs. While not everyone has the time to train there dogs to there full potential.
Before Rhett was born I spent countless hours raising and training dogs and horses, as the opportunity permitted. Between my uncle and I we had 10 dogs that we were working with at all times. When the dogs reached 2 to 3 years old the dogs were sold (re homed) to owners that needed trained dogs to hunt Cougar, Bob cat, Bear, Raccoons, and Water foul. One thing I found in each breed is desire. Some dogs have it, some dogs learn it, and some dogs never have it. The dogs that never had it were given to good family homes. The others were sold.

Tank was one with natural hunting desire. In the last 6 weeks he had killed 6 house cats, and 1 raccoon. These are the ones I know about. Do you think I like going to the neighbor and telling that there cat is dead? I was paid $150 for Tank. This covered the cost to have him neutered. Did I make any money off him, no. He is now with another hounds-man.

Providing an income for my family by buying and selling animals will not make me rich or pay for much but it keeps a roof over our head and the heat on. Live on a farm. You will buy and sell your pets daily (Even take them to the butch, and have them for dinner that night)!

Today I am grateful for individuals that don't second guess or try and read between the lines on a blog. Like I said we all have opinions, good and bad.

On a lighter note. Here is some cat fishing with some real men.

Saturday Funnies

Today I've got 2 clips the first one is "fast food" and the other is a few tips on washing it all down.

Pam had the opportunity to go with some friend and see Carrie Underwood last Wednesday night. Boy was I on one. It's not Pam I worried about it's the horny drunk guys that might try and grope her. Man was I jealous, with a capital J. Anyone that knows me, knows I blow up like a balloon anytime one of Pam's old high school buddies comes around. So what if I suck in my gut and flex may arms and chest like King Kong or the Hulk. My only regret is that I don't get to take her out and show off how beautiful we are together. I guess Pam still gives me that same spark like the very first time I saw her, or stole my first kiss. I'm just glad she still lets me be a kid at heart.

Pam said I was feeling left out not getting comments on the blog. That is only half true. I just want all the negative ones. I'll respond to them. I'm the protector, or I'd like to think I am. Pam does one heck of a job watching out for our kids, Okay me too. With that said, I'll address the comments for those who looks at a glass half empty.

While we have re-homed Tank our male blue Tick hound. I think that this is a good thing as he has such a desire to hunt. He is with another hounds-man that needed a good dog to chase cougar this winter and bear this spring. I have been raising dog all my life and it is never easy to let any of them go. Even if they are not mine and I train them for a period of 3 to 6 months. I will miss Tank a great deal. I just don't have the time to train and hunt him. I need to spend the time I have available with Pam and the kids, which is not easy working 7 days a week. Do to my work schedule I have asked Pam to start working with Roxy and Princess. This is so that they can be together in the house. I just hope Princess doesn't eat Roxy in the process (Then we would have two dogs in one ha ha).

The Last Kiss Good Bye:

11/19/08 I am grateful for the setting sun. As it sets it takes our troubles away.

11/20/08 I am grateful for night (or sleep). This is where we gather our strength to face any challenge that is brought before us.

11/21/08 I am grateful for the rising sun in the morning. As its warming raise glow upon us we are filled with energy and joy.

11/22/08 I am grateful for the ability to blog. I know understand how relaxing it can be to put you thought and feelings down on paper (if you know what I mean). Blogging brings out all of our feeling, and lets us share with many many others.

Wordless Wednesday got a little wordy. Dinner is served:

I have to admit I was very shocked to read the negative comments on Rhett's journey today. I have posted lower some clip about the food chain. Next time you eat a hamburger or a steak, I want you to know I've been on a slater floor and if you think the natural order of animals feeding you need to look at your feeding habits. Shame an the people that go and buy meat and not even give a second thought to where it came from. Also what about eggs. They taste great Saturday morning with a couple slices of bacon. You can even get you breakfast out on the golf course.

CAUTION: These links show live animals being feed to snakes. WATCH AT YOUR OWN RISK!

Everything in this world has to eat. If we take the animals into our homes we must provide the food they would kill and eat in the wild.

Today I am grateful for uneducated people. The more you understand how we get our food from the farm to our kitchen tables is a great deal of effort. Ya all better quit eating any fast food. The treatment of the animals raised and killed to feed each of you day by day is less than perfect. Even if you don't take part in the eating a nice juicy steak, or cracking a chicken egg, someone in your family does (Mom, Dad, Brother, Sister, Grandma, Grandpa etc...). I just hope you look at your next hamburger a little differently.

P.S. I love each animal that I take in to care for, but I can also kill anything that in nature would be feed to the animals we care for. ITS JUST NATURES WAY. Eat or be eaten.

RAT DOG

Well it was bound to happen! Are you asking what was bound to happen? Well I'll tell ya. Our house has been invaded by a RAT DOG. Pamela has wanted a little dog since before we got our first dog Jax almost 7 years ago. I was raised around large dogs 70 to 100 lbs. and she was raised with little kick me rat dogs. I guess this is what I get for bringing snakey our 51/2 ft. red tailed boa home. Pam told me I'd never have a snake in her house. I told her the snake was for Chloee(Doesn't that make it okay?). I told her she would never own a kick me dog. Well I guess we were both wrong. Pam found this 1 1/2 year old Chihuahua (Rat Dog). This little girl (Rat Dog) is all good I guess. The dog will not come to me (I think that dog is really smart. The dog would make a great meal for Chloee's new snake) Ha, ha, ha. Well Rhett's crib was recalled so Pam took it back and got him a bed. Then Pam asked me to go get the bed out of the back of the truck. As I was going out the dog looked like it needed to go out and do its business, right? So I say "Pam I think your dog needs to go out" do you think she listened. HECK NO! So I come back in and the dog is running in circles and as I said it will not come to me. So I start telling Pam "your dog needs to poo", over and over about 10 times while she was down watching TV. She said she thought I was joking. No I was using my I told you so voice, which could sound a lot like my joking or just kidding voice. Well the dog needs to poo turned into "your dogs going to poo"(still with no response). Then" TOO LATE!!!, Pam, Pam, PAM! come clean up the poo"! Which she still didn't believe me until I told her again "I'm not kidding". "I'm not cleaning up a mess I told you was just going to happen". I've raised dogs all my life. They all do the same poo, poo dance. When it comes to animals you would think Pam would listen. Maybe next time her TV program might not be as important, ha, ha, ha. While I was typing this post the dog went under the desk and what can I say I kicked it. I told you it was a kick me dog. You never know where they are hiding.

This is what Pam's new Rat Dog looks like. This is not the actual picture of her. Watch for updates on Rhett's Journey. This is the actual picture of Chloee's snake that will be eating the rat dog soon.

Today I am grateful for all the I told you so's. I sure do love giving I told you so's out. All I've got to do now is not give Pam any reason to give me one. I told you so's sure are good for a laugh. I'm not going to let Pam live this one down for awhile.

Be Happy

Today we were going to celebrate Pam's birthday (it was last Wednesday). I got a call last night reminding me of a commitment I made to my cousin. The commitment is that I run his holiday art store in the mall every Sunday starting today. The mall is only open for 6 hour so I thought no big deal I can do both. Went to work and sold a whopping 15 dollars in art. Got home about 6:30pm eat dinner then played slap the bunnies with Pam and her sister Kristie. While my next day off will be thanksgiving (I hope can sleep in). The next day off will be Christmas. This is a lot of work for very little gain. The good news is that starting in January I'll get started on the calender project. I'll post picture for voting later this week. While off to bed.

Any of you readers here in Utah Check out the Artist Corner in the Provo Town center Mall. Even if you don't buy anything its cool to just check out all our local artist and more.

Today I am grateful for lazy days. I know that if I get one in the next month and a half I am going to take full advantage.

Weekend to Weak day?

Does anyone think that Mondays feel different than other days of the week. While I do and here is the clip that proves it. I haven't had a weekend in over 6 months. I think I forgot what one feels like. Does life ever slow down once you have kids?

This clip will show you how close one man came to almost losing his life. Makes you think.

Little Rhett man got to come home from the hospital today. Got home after work (10:30pm) and checked on him. Sleeping like a log with the cat. It just seems like the know that Rhett isn't feeling well and he stays with him until he feels better. What a great cat we have.

Here at the Bird house we have many different animals. My life long goal is to own a pet store. I read an article in the paper today that said pet ownership is up 56% to 63% from just 5 years ago. The article went on to say that it is expected to keep increasing as we have introduced many different exotic pets to a already long list of animals available in the pet trade. These pets are becoming easier and easier to get as individuals learn how to breed them and produce healthy attractive animals. I think a pet store is still in my future, a store front that is.

Today I am grateful for Garfield the cat. What a great way to get feeling better by someone (or thing) loving on you all day, and all night. Has anyone seen my kittens?

Sick Little Man:

Today Rhett wasn't feeling so good so Pam took him to the Hospital. While the tests are back and his white blood cell count was sky high (Pam will update her blog with more details as soon as she gets into a room). I'm going to ask you all for a favor. Take a minute today to tell your children you love them then give them a big hug. If you don't have any children, call your brothers or sisters kids and tell them. Love, Laugh, and Live. You can not truly live without love and laughter!

Today I am grateful that we got Rhett to the hospital before he really got major sick. I am also grateful for thing that make us laugh. If we couldn't laugh we would never understand how great life really can be. Take a minute to watch this video and laugh with me. Have a great day.
